Two servants, Sampson and Gregory, of the Capulet family were in the town square of Verona. Soon after, Abram and Balthasar of the Montague family arrive. These two families have been enemies since a long time ago and are still not able to get along with each other well. Everytime they meet, their swords will be raised without hesitation. Sampson made a rude face at the Montagues for his personal enjoyment and triggered the Montagues to start a fight. The servants from the two families continue to agitate each other by their childish exchange of words. Thereafter, they started to fight. Benvolio steps in to stop the imbecilic fight. From his actions, we can state that Benvolio is not an unreasonable man that will fight at any opportunity he’s given. Tybalt, who is impulsive, attacks Benvolio as he sees no truth in his words. Furthermore, the townspeople joined in with the commotion. Later, Lord Capulet, his wife, Lord Montague and his wife arrived at the scene. The two lords are eager to fight with each other but were stopped by their sensible wives. A short while later, Prince Escalus showed up and stopped the irritating fight that has happened three times already at his streets. I think that the fault lies with both the servants of the Montague and Capulet family. Although Sampson and Gregory from the Capulet family first started the fight, Abram and Balthasar chose to accept the invitation rather than just simply ignored them. I would say that these servants are frivolous and brainless because they have never ever thought about the trouble they have caused to others. I personally think that they should be punished and reflect on their actions. However, I think it would be pointless to do so. I believe even after the punishment, the two families will start another commotion when they encounter each other. If not, they wouldn’t still be enemies that have to be stopped by a prince. ♥Paris |
